Overcome Panic Attacks – Natural Ways To Overcome Panic Attacks

Article by Robert Wiggins

You don’t necessarily need a doctor’s visit to overcome panic attacks… you are often better off using natural options to cure panic attacks. The first thing you need to do when trying to overcome panic attacks is to study up on panic disorder and really understand what is happening inside of you when a panic attack strikes. When you’re armed with this knowledge you can take control of your anxious feelings and overcome panic attacks.

What are the best ways to overcome panic attacks naturally?

1) Exercise helps overcome panic attacks. Exercise has been scientifically proven to help with anxiety. That’s a fact! If you have less anxiety… you are less likely to have a panic attack. Also when you increase your heart rate, your breathing, and you really start sweating you get a good feeling. This good feeling helps you when you start to have a panic attack… How? Well, your body equates all of your panic symptoms with that good feeling (like an increase in heart rate or heavy breathing) so these symptoms no longer cause you to panic. You desensitize yourself to the feelings that typically bring on panic and anxiety.

2) Get eight hours of solid sleep at night. There is no easier way to overcome panic attacks then to get a full night of sleep and wake up rested. When your body is not properly rested it will send stress and anxiety signals to your mind. This anxiety keeps building up until you cannot take it anymore… then…before you know it… panic attack! When you sleep you relieve stress and anxiety that builds up during the day.

3) Overcome panic attacks by being getting out in public. This is going to be the last thing that people with panic attacks are going to want to hear… Typically people with panic attacks are scared to leave their houses because they fear when their next attack will strike. You have to avoid this feeling… you have to really get out there… once you do you will feel less lonely and you start to get more connected to people. This connected feeling alone can help you overcome panic attacks.

A great burden will be lifted off your shoulders once you learn how to overcome panic attacks. You’ll feel great relief when you no longer need to constantly be thinking about when you next panic attack will strike. You feel great freedom and a sense of accomplishment… overcoming panic attacks changes your life and makes it worth living again.

Coping With Anxiety Attacks Naturally – 5 Natural Ways to Handle Anxiety Attacks

Article by John Cielo

In coping with anxiety attacks you first have to remember that they cannot harm you, and, always think and act positively. You should also seek professional medical help as soon as possible. When diagnosed with anxiety you’ll probably be given drug-based medication and perhaps some appropriate therapy as well. But more and more sufferers are using totally natural remedies for anxiety, because of the side effects that many of these drugs have. Here you’ll learn about coping with anxiety attacks without drugs.

What are anxiety attacks?

Anxiety attacks are just the body’s natural primeval response to a situation where it (wrongly) perceives you to be in danger. It then sets off a train of physical and mental bodily changes to help you either fight or run away to safety. This is called the body’s ‘fight or flight’. Because you are not aware of any immediate physical danger these changes confuse you, so that the symptoms they produce (see below) may lead you to totally believe you’re having a heart attack, or, about to die even.

What causes my body to think I’m in danger?

At the root is higher-than-normal levels of anxiety. With normal levels, a person faced with an everyday stressful event is able to handle it without too much problems because the overall increased anxiety levels are still within normal limits.

Someone with higher-than-normal general anxiety is already near the limit so that an everyday stressor can raise the overall anxiety level way over the limit. When this happens you’re unconscious mind perceives this as a dangerous situation and, rather than take any chances, switches to it’s ‘fight or flight’ mode.

What are the symptoms of an anxiety attack?

The most common symptoms are: hyperventilation, overwhelming panic, hot flashes / chills, heart palpitations, fear of dying, trouble breathing, dizziness, trembling, tightness in chest and throat, stomach cramps, choking sensation, sweating, nausea and a feeling of ‘detachment.’

Coping With Anxiety Attacks

Anxiety attacks usually peak within 10 minutes of their commencement, and, they rarely last more than 30 minutes. The key is to always remember that the symptoms are just your body’s reaction to a ‘perceived’ danger that isn’t there at all; a false alarm. They cannot harm you. Here are 5 natural ways of coping with anxiety attacks…

(1) THINK POSITIVELY

During an attack repeat to yourself that it’s a false alarm and that you aren’t having a seizure or heart attack. Take back control. Absolutely face the symptoms head-on by repeating that you know how they occur and that they will disappear. The more positive you are the quicker they’ll go away.

(2) TALK TO A TRUSTED FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER

If you can explain to someone you trust what you are feeling, their understanding and feedback can help a lot. By bringing out your emotions and feelings with a trusted friend or family member, you are unburdening your negative thoughts and feelings rather than keeping them to yourself and having them fester.

(3) RELAX BY USING CONTROLLED BREATHING

It’s important to relax as much as possible during an anxiety attack. This can be very hard to do because the symptoms are just so frightening. During an attack you will be breathing way too fast. This builds up oxygen and upsets the oxygen / carbon dioxide balance. By concentrating on slow, rhythmic breathing you’ll begin to slow your heartbeat, re-balance oxygen / carbon dioxide, relax tense muscles and calm your mind.

(4) EXERCISE DAILY

It should be no surprise to see this here. It is well known that daily exercise improves your body and mind. It has been proved that 30 minutes of good exercise daily can reduce stress and anxiety. And it can improve your immune system making you healthier, and, the healthier you are the less likely to fall pray to anxiety attacks.

(5) ELIMINATE YOUR ‘FEAR’ OF ANXIETY ATTACKS

Whether you are aware of it or not, your fear of having another anxiety attack is the one thing that is holding back your cure. This is because you fear is continually building on your high levels of general anxiety, driving you ever closer to the limit past which an anxiety attack can be triggered. In other words your ‘fear’ itself can cause you to have anxiety attacks. You need to get rid of your fear and break that anxiety cycle in order to prevent anxiety attacks in the future.

To discover the simple ‘ONE MOVE’ technique that will eliminate your fear factor and so break your vicious cycle of anxiety, go here now http://eliminatepanicattacks.blogspot.com and prepare to get your old self back again.

8 Natural Ways To Relieve Anxiety

In this high-stress, time-constrained, frantic world we live in today, it is no wonder that millions of people suffer from anxiety. While drugs like Xanax, Valium and Klonopin are popular and work well, they can be highly addictive with many unwanted side effects. Some of the following natural treatments can work nearly as well and offer a far better long term solution:

 1. Meditation

An ancient practice that dates back thousands of years, meditation has been thoroughly researched, and its ability to relieve stress and anxious feelings proven time and time again. There are many types of meditation, but the most studies have been done on a form called Transcendental Meditation, or TM. TM and its remarkable benefits on overall health has been studied extensively by Dr. Herbert Benson, and was outlined in his classic book “The Relaxation Response”. There are many instructional books, videos and classes available on TM and it is definitely worth the time investment to learn this unique form of meditation.

 2. L-theanine

L-theanine is an amino acid that occurs naturally in high amounts in green tea. It is available in concentrated capsules as a supplement. It has been called “meditation in a bottle” and for good reason; research has shown that it can actually change brain waves to match those achieved by deep meditation, and usually in 30 minutes or less. For best results, try 100 -200 mg. of L- thiamine on a empty stomach.

 3. Exercise

Exercise has been a long known antidote to stress and anxiety. This is due, in large part, to the workings of our natural in-born fight or flight mechanism; In response to stress or perceived threat, our bodies produce chemicals that help us to either stay and fight hard, or escape quickly. Thousands of years ago, this was very helpful, and the fighting or running would help naturally dissipate these chemicals. In today’s world, however, fighting or running away are rarely appropriate responses to modern day stressors, and as a result these chemicals never have a chance to fully dissipate. The continual presence of these chemicals in the body can produce those stressed out, anxious feelings. Exercise helps resolve this problem; getting your body moving is like incorporating a “flight” response into your routine, and allows all those anxiety producing substances to dissipate. Aim for 20-30 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise at least 4 times per week.

 4. St. John’s Wort

While most people know St. John’s Wort as a treatment for depression, many are not aware that it can also be quite effective in treating anxiety. Like traditional antidepressants, St. John’s Wort is thought to raise levels of serotonin in the brain, which can produce feelings of calm and relaxation. The usual dosage is 900 mg. per day in divided doses. The major drawback for this therapy is that it usually takes 4-6 weeks to see the full benefits.

 5. Yoga

Another ancient practice that dates back thousands of years, yoga has seen a meteoric rise in popularity over the past few decades. There are multiple health benefits of yoga, one of which is relieving anxiety. There are many how-to books and videos available, but taking a few classes in the beginning is probably best.

 6. Massage

Most people know instinctively that a massage is relaxing, and after a few minutes of hands-on experience with a professional, there is little doubt that it can alleviate anxiety, albeit temporarily. Although anxiety may start in the mind, it is often stored in the body and by relaxing the body with massage, you can usually relax the mind. The main drawback for this stress-buster is cost. If you can afford it, try a 30 minute massage once a week.

 7. Tai chi

Another stress reliever from the ancient world, Tai Chi has been practiced in China for hundreds of years by millions of people. It combines elements of exercise, meditation, stretching and deep breathing for an overall health-boosting, anxiety-relieving experience. There are many instructional videos and books available to learn Tai Chi, but as with yoga, a few classes in the beginning would be a good idea.

 8. 5-HTP

5-HTP is an amino acid extracted from African griffonia seeds. Like St. John’s Wort, 5-HTP raises levels of serotonin in the brain, although the mechanism of action is slightly different. The result is the same; more feelings of calm and less feelings of anxiety. Recommended dosage is 50-300 mg. per day, usually at night before bed.

Question by Bonanza: What are some ways to prevent a panic attack?
I do have this stuff called Rescue Remedy, but sometimes it just isn’t enough. So if someone has any techniques they know or use to help prevent a panic attack, I’d greatly appreciate knowing them.

Hiya, there are many remedies to stop or diminish panic or anxiety attacks – however, since many of them are medications I suggest that you don´t try this route initially. You need to try and manage the attacks, the cause of them, what is often the trigger and your best way to control it. There are a great number of resources available to you. One of the most popular and very effective non medication solutions is the “Linden Method”, which has been used by 1,000´s of sufferers to alleviate their condition. You can find more info at http://www.banishpanic.info together with another popular system used by panic/anxiety sufferers.
Look into it and find more information – it will help you and you can control it but yiou have to take some action.
Good Luck
