Social anxiety is the fear of rejection or self-consciousness that happens when a person is at the center of attention in a social situation. At the time of the prehistoric times, people were dependent on each other to survive. Therefore if a person was rejected by the group he could have and up alone or even die. That is the reason we have this built in fear. Today the danger isn’t real anymore but we still have this fear. Some of the people get over it quite easily but other can’t manage to do it naturally. I have coped with social anxiety disorder for most of my life. When I was in stressful social situations my voice stuttered, my heart pounded hard and my hands were shaking uncontrollably. I took action and faced my fears. I have done things like talking to complete strangers or performing in front of thousands of people. It was frightening at first but this is really the most effective way to cure anxiety.
