Anyone who suffers from severe anxiety symptoms knows how terrifying an anxiety attack can be. Anxiety can have an adverse impact on your entire life which is why it’s critical that you learn how to treat anxiety so that you never have to have another attack again.
Most medical advice works around masking the symptoms with drugs, but if you really want to be free you have to break the cycle of fear that keeps those attacks coming. The thing about anxiety is that it creates a cycle where the fear of the next attack actually puts you in an anxious state, thus bringing on the attack! However, if you learn how to treat anxiety by dealing with this fear, then you can break the cycle.
Lets say you notice that you often have an attack in a crowded place like a restaurant, a nightclub or even the grocery store on Saturday morning (this is actually quite common). Once you notice this happening, the next time you are going to one of these places you will be worried and anxious about having an attack. This in itself sets the stage for severe anxiety symptoms and before you know it, you are avoiding all the places that might trigger an attack!
Needless to say, if you let this escalate you will soon be avoiding most places and your life enjoyment will be severely diminished – perhaps you are already at this point or near it?
Luckily, you can stop this cycle from happening. But what you need to do is not be afraid of the next attack. I know this is easier said than done, but there are some things you can do to distract your mind from it. One thing that I like to do is just rub my forehead whenever I start to feel anxious – I know it sounds kind of stupid but it actually works to diminish the severe anxiety symptoms that I might feel in some situations!
It might take some work, but if you can learn how to treat anxiety by nipping it in the bud, you will soon find that you don’t have any anxiety attacks at all and you can finally go back to living your life without fear of anxiety!
