The Midwest Center for Stress and Anxiety Re-Launches Website for Stress, Anxiety and Depression

September 20th, 2010

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2009

The Midwest Center for Stress and Anxiety announced today the re-launch of its Website, StressCenter.com, the premier online destination for news, information and solutions for coping with stress, anxiety and depression. The new site features an enhanced user interface with access to articles and other content, updated information on the most pressing and relevant stress-related issues, and the newest programs and services from the experts at the Midwest Center.

“The marketplace for information on stress, anxiety and depression is very fragmented, and we recognized a consumer need for a definitive destination for information and solutions on stress and related problems,” said Jeff Campbell, VP of Business Development at the Midwest Center. “Once we identified the consumer need, our task was clear. We created a comprehensive Website with a user-friendly interface and search features. We also leveraged the deep research and knowledge of the Midwest Center to offer fresh and relevant content for the stress, anxiety and depression issues facing people today.”

The Website’s introduction comes during a period when Americans face growing stress from a struggling economy, depressed job and financial markets, and general socio-economic malaise. “Times are tough for everyone right now,” said Lucinda Bassett, President of the Midwest Center. “But with the re-launch of our Website, people have a place to turn for help, information and support. Our new Website is a key resource for anyone looking to deal with these unprecedented levels of stress, anxiety and depression.”

Since 1985 the Midwest Center, through its flagship program, Attacking Anxiety & Depression, has offered the #1 non-pharmaceutical, self help program for the treatment of anxiety, stress and depression. The program is available on the new Website, where customers will also find a large and diverse community of users, access to newsletters and video content, and information on the company’s coaching program that helps customers reap the greatest rewards from the program.

You Really Need A Vacation

July 31st, 2010

May be you have felt that your life is one big roller coaster ride in which, whichever way you turn the ride gets faster and faster.

Your boss maybe demanding asking more and more from you, your partner may complain of you being workaholic and have no time for her or your children, your elderly mother may be relying on you to keep her company and manage her affairs as she had a fall recently. At the end of the day you may have felt you had enough and at a loss what to do, whom to turn to for support and how to let off steam to regain your calmness.

After teaching yoga to concerned and stressed out students, I’ve observed that the majority of individuals are so concerned over meeting the demands of others, that they live life on overdrive.

Odds are that if you can identify with even one of the five symptoms we will discuss here, you’re probably already overstressed, worried and taking on too much emotional baggage.

Below are some signals that should alert you to needing a vacation. You’ve always got aches, pains, and headaches. You can’t focus on your work, yet you work lengthy shifts. Your relationship can suffer when you bring work home with you and this puts up barriers. Most of the times, you are exhausted and worn out. It takes double the usual amount of time and effort to make yourself get up and go. It seems like your reason for being is gone. You’re grouchy with your coworkers and also with your family members. Your heart rate is greater than usual. You may find that you frequently have held your breath unknowingly and caused an increase your blood pressure.

If this sounds familiar to you, what can you do to calm the overwhelming worry that keeps running through your head. What actions can you take to relieve some of the demands that push and pull you in too many directions? What can one do to manage and lessen stress?

Take a vacation and relax.

All of us require rest, relaxation and some peace of mind. When was the last time you had a couple days off, or a vacation? Vacations may be stressful, particularly if you must meet and juggle your kids’ and spouse’s demands.

Several days’ respite from your usual routine can invigorate you and give you a fresh viewpoint as well. While you’re on vacation, try to take in as much fresh air as you can, go on lots of walks, eat right and drink plenty of water. Use the location to lie down, go to sleep earlier, read a book, do crossword puzzles, or any activity which gets your mind off the problems back home. Getting away for a few days can provide a new perspective, and even though the problem will still be waiting for you at home, the time away can help you figure out how to manage your troubles.

Routinely stressing yourself out, working too much, and avoiding rest and relaxation can damage your relationships and cause serious, chronic health problems, including diabetes, stroke, hypertension and insomnia.

Book a short vacation for a few days if you need to relax because life is getting you down, are overworked, worried or tired and low. Remove yourself from the daily grind, and the things you do on a daily basis to recharge your energy and feel encouraged.
