Rainbows and Sunshine (ages 6 to 11)

Relaxation/healing stories developed with hospital pediatricians and child
psychologists to help children cope with medical procedures,
psychological problems, hospital stays, and everyday stress; and to help
activate the body s natural healing process.

Rainbows and Sunshine are peaceful relaxation/healing narratives designed to help
children (ages 6-11) relax, heal, and fall asleep. These narratives are appropriate in a home
setting or in a medical setting.

These delightful narratives use carefully researched age-appropriate mind-body techniques
including guided imagery, relaxation, and healing exercises. Each narrative uses a very
different narrative technique to help appeal to a wider audience. While listening to these
narratives, children are learning relaxation/healing techniques they can practice for the rest
of their lives.

Rainbows is an enchanting bedtime story in which the child drifts on a cloud, visits a
rainbow, and relaxes in a cocoon of healing light. This story includes proven, age-
appropriate relaxation exercises, beautiful guitar and string music, and enchanting songs
about nature. Children relax with positive, happy thoughts in their minds while practicing
relaxation techniques they can use all their lives.

Sunshine is a calming narrative in which children are gently led through age-appropriate
relaxation and healing exercises. This narrative is beautifully orchestrated with strings, flutes, and
waves.

The compositions in both pieces were recorded at the tempo that has been proven to be the
most effective at evoking the relaxation response through a scientific phenomenon known as
rhythm entrainment.

This CD is ideal for children who:
* Are sick or hospitalized
* Have trouble relaxing or falling asleep.
* Have siblings or parents who are sick or hospitalized.
* Have ADD, ADHD, OCD, separation anxiety, depression, or panic disorder.

Can You Cure A Phobia?

May 11th, 2010

At long last, you’ve decided to change yourself for the better. A phobia can be a scary thing to face. Never let it become too overwhelming to you. All of us want to be released from the fear that holds us down regardless of what it may be. So you ask yourself, can you cure a phobia? Be patient with yourself, you have to start somewhere.

All of us suffer from one phobia or another, some more than others– most don’t even realize they have them. Although all we can do is try not to give in to it. We’re better than that. We all are.

Fear can stop us from accomplishing many things in our lives, it can destroy our minds. Forcing unwanted problems onto us and possibly hurting those closest to us. We strive to make sure that no one has to suffer, even if we do. But that shouldn’t be the case, stop it before it’s too late. Catch your phobia’s by it’s arm and show them to the door.

You can start off by making a detailed list of what your phobia’s may be. Once you’ve finished, break the list down into steps and go from there. Below is an example of how your list should be.

1: When did I first notice I had a phobia?

2: What could’ve triggered it and why?

3: How it may be affecting your life and the people around you.

4: Why you’d want to cure the phobia.

5: Is it causing me or anyone else physical harm?

Answering these questions the best you can by how you believe it’s affecting you, and start a plan to exorcise each step accordingly. Once you can pinpoint your reasons behind the phobia, you’ll finally be able to reach where you need to be.

Don’t ever let fear control you. Most of us don’t realize how easily fear can back us up into a corner and stop us from doing the things we enjoy in life. The absents of fear can bring forth true enlightenment of one’s consciousness. Don’t we all want to feel better about ourselves and not let anything get in our ways?

When the time comes and you’re there to face your fears with arms wide open. Don’t get discouraged, swallow back whatever binds you and step forward. The only thing that can stand in your way is the things you place there yourself.

Never let go of your inner strength, I didn’t, and soon I was cured of most of phobia’s. All it took was a little time, self acceptance and of course the true enlightenment of finally being emptied of the fears that held me back. Don’t give up, be strong.

May 8th, 2010

The official and medical name for people with a fear of strangers is Xenophobia. This not only covers people who have a fear of strangers, but also for people afraid of foreigners and other people different to themselves. Xeno means a guest or stranger and phobia means to have a fear.

The fear of foreigners and people different to ones self can be regarding anybody from a different culture to your own, people with different personalities, higher levels of confidence or just somebody who believes in different things to yourself. People speaking in a foreign language can also cause alarm for those suffering with this phobia or fear and will always give a cause for alarm.

Xenophobia is not just something that a person decides to feel, it is naturally coded into them and is a mental wave. People suffering from this will genuinely believe deep inside that anybody different to themselves can hurt or harm them. A certain level of this phobia can exist in other people in their day to day lives also.

There are many Xenophobics who not only suffer from this mentally, but can be vocal and act violently towards the people that they fear. They can lash out and cause harm due to their extreme fear. Most sufferers however are placid and do not expose their fears to other people and keep it only to themselves.

Throughout history and even today, tribes across the world follow some kind of Xenophobia and will fight any tribes different to themselves. This just shows how many different levels it comes it and how widespread it can be.

The most well known bout of Xenophobia happened during Hitlers reign when he had extreme feelings towards Jews. They were gassed and killed, all because they were seen as being different. This was a very over the top view on things, but the feeling was strong and could not be overcome.

Learn How To Overcome Your Fear Of Extreme Cold

May 5th, 2010

Being in extremely cold weather is not something that most people enjoy but there are a good amount of people out there that completely fear the extreme cold. A fear of extreme cold is classified as cryophobia and it is defined as an unreasonable trepidation of the intense cold, frost or ice.

It is impossible to know how many people suffer from cryophobia since there are many places in the world where you could avoid extremely cold weather. The only way to understand the fear is to get a better grasp of the symptoms that the person would experience, how to diagnosis the fear and the treatments used to cure the phobia.

It is not clear as to how people develop a fear of cold weather but one theory suggests that it stems from a person’s inability to control it. People that suffer from this phobia experience a feeling of panic, terror, fast heart beat, shortness of breath, shaking, anxiousness and taking every measure possible to avoid extreme cold. The majority of these symptoms apply to other phobias and could lead to a misdiagnosis of the person’s fear.

One must understand that just finding extremely cold weather unpleasant is not considered cryophobia. A cryophobic can not bear to be in cold weather and will go to great lengths to keep away from it even if it is done in an illogical way.

Diagnosing this fear can be a very taxing and stressful process for the person with the fear. The only way to grasp the severity of the situation is for the person to actually be presented with what they fear. Something as simple as stepping into a larger freezer can be absolutely horrifying for a person who suffers from cryophobia but the test is necessary in order to make the diagnosis and start treatment..

There are many treatments for phobias but so far only two of them have been proven effective. The use of introducing the fear in small increments to the patient has helped but it can take a long time to conclude the treatment. Since the patient is allowed to work at their comfort level the treatment can take months or years to complete. The most successful treatment for a phobia is Hypnotherapy. This treatment requires the patient to be unconscious while the hypnotherapist performs exercises that utilizes the subconscious of the patient to conquer their fear.
