Nervous Sweating

May 4th, 2010

Nervous sweating is one of those conditions that are so often written off is not important, often by people who have experienced it once or twice in their lives but never often enough to consider it a serious problem. Most of us will sweat when put under intense pressure, but because this doesn’t happen often we don’t really think it’s a problem. There are people there who feel like this all the time, and for them the condition present an entirely different picture. In this article I’m going to be talking about the impact this can have on a person’s life, as well as some of the drastic measures people feel moved to in order to handle it. Finally, I am going to give a link to a website that gives a few natural remedies which are a lot less drastic than some of the surgical options people choose.

Nervous sweating is like Catch-22. A person who suffers from chronic nervous sweating will start sweating the incident may feel any anxiety or worry. This in turn leads to more sweating as they become worried about what people will think. In today’s society, sweating is considered to be a sign of poor hygiene, and people who have heavy sweating problems are often isolated. The fact is, when a person is sweating heavily, it can feed bacteria and generate bad body odours, so it can be unpleasantly be around people who are sweating heavily.

So because people with nervous sweating are concerned about the responses that will get from other people, their anxiety tends to grow, which in turn leads to more sweating, like a vicious circle. As a result of this, people with nervous sweating try hard to avoid others. This can lead to them feeling isolated and alone, and ultimately can become a source of depression.

As you can see, the impact of the problem can be very drastic, so it’s not very surprising the lengths to which a person will go to try and solve the problem. But because the situation is not thoroughly understood medically, many of these treatments can be quite damaging. For instance, there is surgery that cuts the nerves that control the sweat glands. As you can imagine, this is a very invasive and potentially damaging procedure.

Obviously these measures are in themselves quite harmful, but they’re often ineffective as well because the body will simply start sweating in another location in order to compensate.

For these reasons, I believe it’s far better to use a simple natural solution, at least until the point when medical science better understands the problem of nervous sweating, and can give a real and permanent solution. It’s not that I disagree with Western medicine, it’s just that I know for a fact that until they are able to discover the exact cause of the problem, potentially harmful medical treatments are not warranted. There may be some cases that don’t respond to natural treatments that these are in the minority, and I suppose in those cases medical treatments are better than nothing, but for the rest there are far less painful and far safer treatments that will work.

You can find out more at my website all about nervous sweating. I’ll be discussing different solutions that can work, and pointing out resources on the Internet which are useful.
