Your chest hurts, only the doctor has told you that everything is fine, you’re not having a heart attack. Your body says something different. Your heart is beating like a scared rabbit’s in your chest. You’re sure that others can sense what you’re going through. Are you tired of being a victim to general anxiety?
You know that panic attacks are not life threatening, but when you find yourself in the grips of one, it feels exactly like you’re going to die. A terrible feeling that something bad is about to happen almost knocks you for a loop.
The symptoms of a panic attack can include rapid breathing and heart rate, a feeling of unreality and dread, a choking sensation or light-headedness.
If you’ve recently undergone an emotional trauma or have unresolved emotions — these are often to be considered the triggers of panic attacks. This does not mean you have to go to a shrink and get your head examined to get relief from panic attacks or high anxiety.
Give yourself permission to know that you are not crazy. Remember to take deep shallow breaths before, during, and after a panic attack.
To reduce the psychological distress caused by a panic attack, it’s a good idea to eat a balanced and healthy diet — get plenty of rest — and exercise daily. Believe it or not, this will keep the angst at bay — at least for a while.
Remember to stop and breathe slowly and deeply, this also works to stem a panic attack. While drugs prescribed by your doctor will work temporarily – they are by no means a long-term solution to the problem. And as we all know by listening the commercials these so-called drug solutions create more problems in the long run.
