Anxiety Problems In Children Are Probably Atypical But At Times Generally Misunderstood

A lot of children go thorough anxiety as a normal part of growing up. They might be nervous about taking a test or commencing a new school. Youngsters don’t normally develop stress disorders or irrational fears because of this. However panic disorders can begin I children for other reasons.

It’s not possible to defend children from everything. Children can develop the same nervousness disorders present in adults. A generalized panic disorder might be seen in children in loads of different ways. They might excessively worry about normal events like school or things at home. They could be overly motivated about getting everything right. The child might do the same thing over and over again trying to get it perfect. They might also seek persistent approval and reassurance from others.

OCD, or Obsessive- compulsive Disorder, can also be found in children. OCD is intrusive or unwanted thoughts or obsessions that can’t seem to be cleaned from a person’s head. They also might display strong urges to repeatedly perform ritualistic behaviors and routines to try to ease their anxieties. Although the optimum age at which a child might be diagnosed with OCD is ten, it can be seen in children as young as two or three. This nervousness disorder may be seen in children through excessive hand washing, the feeling of terror that they will accidentally do something incorrectly, rechecking or counting items excessively to ward off unwelcome thoughts, etc.

Panic disorders are something different. Children may be diagnosed with panic attacks after suffering from at least two panic attacks. This is much more often throughout adolescence.

Certain phobias children may have can indicate nervousness disorders like fearing places, certain objects or situations. While a lot of children have a normal fear of animals, weather patterns or the dark a last fear, say for 6 months, that effects their everyday activities can be known as a phobia. Symptoms might include suffering from a stomach ache or headache, a tantrum, becoming clingy, or freezing in place when confronted with the fear.

Traumatic events like losing a parent or physical assault may cause these types of problems. These children might display symptoms of not eating or sleeping, emotional numbing, reliving the event through bad nightmares or through playing, or fear that the event might happen again.

Even thought children can suffer from these disorders they can manifest themselves differently. For one, children do not have an understanding that their fears are irrational plus, they might not be able to verbalize their feelings either. Children suffering from stress disorders who are suspected of having any anxiety disorder should be referred to their regular pediatrician.

Suffering from the Problems of Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety is a state of mind wherein a person experiences a number of emotions at the same time such as nervousness, fear, uneasiness, worry to name a few. This is accompanied by physical symptoms such as palpitation , headache, unsettled stomach, chest pain and the like. This can be triggered off due to a number of reasons such as one’s circumstances, certain traumatic experiences or anything perceived by the person as traumatic. When this anxiety extends for a prolonged period it is time to be warned and seek professional help. This condition of the person is known as anxiety disorder.

Anxiety disorder is a rather common problem especially in today’s stress filled world. But the bigger issue is that we don’t treat it as a problem in the first place. Most people who suffer from anxiety disorders and the people around them tend to consider it just as mood swings and the temperament of the individual and thus, overlook the seriousness of the issue. But the point to be noted here is that the symptoms should not be ignored as timely help can cure the person completely.   

Anxiety disorders are of different types. People develop anxiety disorders for various reasons and under various circumstances. They need to use self help methods also to curb these issues.  One can take prescription drugs from the doctor to treat the problem and if not suitably convinced can opt for alternative treatments for anxiety disorders such as ayurveda, acupuncture , acupressure, aroma therapy, yoga and the like. Many people do try alternative treatment for anxiety disorders even though they are not endorsed by any legal authority. If the anxiety attacks cease to arise it does not necessarily mean that the person is fully cured but there can always be a relapse of these problems. Therefore,  it is of utmost importance that the patient undergoes a thorough treatment that deals with the root cause of the problem so that the person can continue to lead a quality life.

Panic Attack And Anxiety- Learning To Deal With It

Dealing with a panic attack or overall anxiety can be very hard. If you are not able to control them, your entire day can be filled with dismay and at the lease convenient moments. These can come out of nowhere and get you sick, scared, and overwhelmed with what’s to come. In fact, it can get so bad that some peoples are frightened of leaving the house. All we can say is; “Don’t let this be you!”

We want to go over a few ways you can cure the anxiety problem, and learn how to deal with a panic attack. Often the first suggestion is medication, but to be honest this isn’t the best way most of the time. Plus, you can experience several negative side effects along the way. Even if you try various medications, half will be ineffective and almost all of them will come with side effects. Oh, and we can’t forget about the health risks that surface down the road.

We’re definitely not trying to scare you, but there are definitely more effective ways of coping with anxiety. We will tell you though, that if you are feeling anxious, entertain yourself. If you continually think about the same problem, you could begin conjuring feelings and make it worse. This is why people tend to keep busy when they cope with anxiety. It gives them some comfort, away from all the drama.

One thing you will find out while doing this is you will be able to accomplish goals faster, and give yourself a sense of accomplishment. It doesn’t have to be anything big, just something to work towards and see you actually show progress with your anxiety. It will also replace your panic attack tendencies with feelings of self esteem, self respect, and happiness.

Even if it is just cleaning out the closet that has been disorganized for years or writing letters to all the friends you have lost touch with recently. Setting and reaching your personal goals can help you to gain the skills that you need to overcome anything that should happen in the future and have you to work towards bigger goals as time goes on.

Another method to divert yourself from feelings of anxiety is to distract your mind with music. Whether it is uplifting or just your favorite radio stations top ten count down. You can relax and overcome feelings of anxiety by listening to music.

Some individuals try to do something they have never think doing before and get an instrument. This is definitely an good method to gain confidence and find that inner peace. Most musicians will tell you when they are stressed or upset, they do what they love to counteract the issue. Even if you don’t play now, why not pick one up and see what happens? It will for sure take your mind off everything else.

In the end you want to control your anxiety. Overtime it has been controlling you in such a way you probably didn’t see it. All it takes is coming across the methods that work to ease your stress, and divert you from developing a panic attack.

Having a clear list of anxiety symptoms in ones mind is truly the first step to taking control of anxiety and panic attacks. Being able to recognize these symptoms as soon as they appear will help to eliminate the feelings of confusion brought on by these sudden physical changes. Knowing what to expect, and understanding why these reactions happen, can allow you to look at an anxiety attack in a new way. A way in which you have more control.

First, it is important to think about the fact that during an anxiety or panic attack, you are not actually in physical danger. Even though your body is reacting as though it is. Reassuring oneself that these are misplaced physical reactions can help immensely. This is the key to many techniques offered to eliminate these attacks. Controlling ones own thoughts. A person having anxiety attacks holds the key to there own recovery.

Question:  What is Panic Disorder?

Answer:  This anxiety based condition is the source of sudden and intense dread that springs on you out of nowhere. In order to be diagnosed with this problem you need to have had two or more panic attacks that have been followed in each instance by at least a month of continued concern about the occurrence of another attack.

Question:  What are the Symptoms of Panic Disorder?

Answer:  Panic Disorder symptoms include the symptoms that are present during an attack itself and the fear of repeated anxiety episodes that leads to the diagnosis. The specific symptoms may include:

1. Heart palpitations

2. Difficulty breathing

3. Nausea and Sweating

Answer:  This is the upsetting question that troubles so many anxiety sufferers. One day your life was normal and everything was fine and then suddenly you are seized by this ongoing terror. Why did it strike you and not your brother? Why has it happened now and not when you were younger? The unpredictability and suddenness of this problem is what makes it so disturbing. 

The answer is your disorder is probably the result of a combination of factors; hereditary, biology, and environmental. Many panic disorder sufferers find that medication is helpful, either an antidepressant like Paxil or tranquilizers like Xanax. While these medications provide some relief, they probably won´t resolve all your problems and of course some people are worried about side effects and long term effects of taking drugs. 

There are a bunch of outlets for your fear based mind such as exercise, yoga, meditation and muscle relaxation that can help alleviate some of the physical and mental problems associated with this problem.
